Thursday (24/11) Library and Information Science Study Program Laboratory of Bengkulu University held a public lecture with the theme “Increasing Library Laboratory Competence.” by inviting two speakers, namely Rastra Sewa Kottama S.S.I, an archivist of Bank Indonesia, and Gustina Aisyah Tazun S.S.I, librarian of SMPN 14 Bengkulu Tengah. This activity was guided by MC Deby, a student of library and information science batch 19, and the moderator, Zafiratul Ashra. Library and Information Science lecturer Lailatus Sa’Diyah S.IP., M.IP, attended this lecture. It was opened by the Head of the Library and Information Science Laboratory, Mrs. Fransiska Timoria Samosir S.Sos., M.A., the first speaker Rastra Sewa Kottama S.S.I discussed the archive material, which is an introduction to what archives are, the function and purpose of archives to maintain the availability of information, as well as a guide in legal proceedings and become the documentation of events that are perpetuated. The types of archives are divided into dynamic and static archives, while the national standards used by the Indonesian state are the ANRI Laws and Regulations. Also explained is the international standard ISO 15489-Record Management. This does not end there. What was described by the first informant also related to archive management, archive creation, archive filing, archive storage, archive maintenance, and archive retrieval to archive depreciation procedures? Like what application systems are used in managing archives, it is explained regarding SRI KANDI and BI-RMS and even some examples of Open Source applications that can be used in managing archives. The second resource person is Gustina Aisyah Tazun, S.S.I discuss Laboratory Management, where management is a process of planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling resources to achieve goals effectively and efficiently. Definition related to a laboratory is a place to carry out research activities, scientific experiments, and exercises. This matter was discussed by the second resource person so that the creation of management in an organization requires several things that must be done and implemented, including the following: planning, organizing, implementing, and also controlling and evaluating. Besides that, management will be realized by establishing good communication with every organization member, said Gustina Aisyah Tazun.
