SOCIAL WELFARE LECTURERS RUN SOME GENIK JOINT ACTIVITIES, IMPLEMENTING SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY
Departing from concerns over the increasing number of social service users who have become a problem not only for the government but also for everyone, it has encouraged the community to develop self-help initiatives to create and run community-based social services. From a social welfare perspective, this situation needs to be positively welcomed, especially amid the government’s limitations in providing these services. The problem is, in many institutions initiated by the community, the management of social services that are carried out still tends to be traditionally based on volunteer charity.

This situation is the background for the Community Service Team, Social Welfare Department, FISIP University of Bengkulu, which consists of 3 lecturers namely: 1) Desy Afrita, AKS., MP.; 2) Rosi L.Vini Siregar, S.Sos., M.Kesos; and 3) Novi Hendrika Jaya Putra, S.Sos., MP carries out and carries out community service activities, which raises the title “Social Service Organization Management Intervention” in the “Inclusion Generation” (Genik) Community of Bengkulu City. This community was founded in 2018, and since then this community has carried out various empowerment activities for persons with disabilities. In detail, the social service organization management intervention in the Genik Community will be carried out through several series of activities in the form of: a) Social service organization management assistance; and b) Creating and printing media for social marketing institutions; and, c) Provision of stimulant funds for revolving loans for assisted productive economic enterprises. The entire activity was carried out within a duration of 4 (four) months, using the 2021 Bengkulu University Fisip PNBP funding scheme.
This service activity is relevant to the commitment of the Social Welfare Department to develop scientific studies and methods of social work practice. Apart from producing competent graduates in the provision of professional social services, through various other higher education dharma, the Department also actively promotes professional services among social service providers.
