INTRODUCTION TO NEW STUDENTS HELD ONLINE BY THE SOCIAL WELFARE STUDENT ASSOCIATION
Social work is a practice-based profession and academic discipline that promotes social change and development. As a Social Welfare student, you are required to be sensitive to social problems that are happening in society. Social Worker Training (SWORT) is an annual routine activity carried out by the Social Welfare Student Association as capital and a first step for new Social Welfare students to better understand the realm of Social Worker.
SWORT will be held Saturday-Sunday, September 18-19 2021. This activity will be held from 08.00 WIB to 12.30 WIB for 2 days. The problems faced this year are still the same as last year’s problems, so that SWORT activities are still hindered if held offline, this activity is carried out online with the theme “The Formation of Social Welfare Students Who Have Social Worker Competency Standards”.

On the first day of September 18 2021, SWORT activities were opened by the Head of the Department, Mrs. Desy Afrita A.KS, MP and followed by a few remarks from the Deputy Dean for Student Affairs, namely Dr. Suparman, M.Sc. After the opening, the activity continued with the delivery of material delivered by 4 presenters on 2 days of implementation. According to the event agenda, the first day featured two presenters. The first material was delivered by Dr. Aries Munandar, S.Sos.,M.Si who explained about the Introduction to Social Welfare and the Basics of Social Welfare. The second material was delivered by Mr. Mardi Sahendra regarding the prospects or job opportunities of social workers. The two presenters are graduates of the Social Welfare Department who have worked in the social welfare sector.
The second day, September 19 2021, or the last day of the SWORT implementation, participants were introduced to Professional Social Workers delivered by Hilda Sriwanty, S.Sos, M.Sos who is involved in the Elderly and Children realm. For the second material, participants were given material on social issues by Dinia Perdana Putri, S.Sos, M.A.P. The point is that Social Welfare Students are sensitive and understand the issues that are currently happening.
Even though it was carried out online, the enthusiasm of the committee and the enthusiasm of the participants for the success of this annual agenda did not waver. The committee has prepared 1 month before the event takes place so that SWORT activities are more directed and run systematically and collaborate with Maxim as the sponsor of this event. Complaints from participants were experiencing bad network problems, as we know that when we are faced with online activities it is very dependent on connections, and many participants complain that the connection is unstable so that when the presenters convey the material it becomes unclear, but they still follow SWORT activities with excited to finish.
