FISIP UNIB Holds 1st International Conference on Development Communication
The Department of Communication Science together with the Journalism Study Program and the Communication Science Masters Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisip) Unib, successfully held an international seminar “1st International Conference on Development Communication (ICDC)”. which was held at the Mercure hotel on 18-19 October 2022. This activity carried the theme “Prospect of Communication for Development in the Digital Era”.
This international seminar was attended by 45 academics from various universities, namely Bengkulu University, Bengkulu Muhammadiyah University, Riau University, Riau Islamic University, Raden Fatah University Palembang, Gabur University, Palembang State Islamic University, Andalas University, Makasar University, UIN Sunan Gunung Jati, Nurdin Hamzah University Jambi, Sebelas Maret University, STIA MI Jakarta, Singaperbangsa Karawang University and others.
The International Seminar activities were opened directly by the Chancellor of the University of Bengkulu, Dr. Retno Agustina Ekaputri and also the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Bengkulu, Dr. Yunilisiah, M.Si who also gave a speech. The Governor of Bengkulu, who was originally scheduled to be the Keynote Speaker, was represented by the Bengkulu Provincial Office of Communication and Information, HM Redwan Arif, MPH. The opening ceremony was marked by the beating of Dol together by the Chancellor of the University of Bengkulu, Dean of FISIP University of Bengkulu, Head of the Bengkulu Provincial Communication and Information Service, Head of the Department of Communication Studies (Rasianna Br. Saragih, M.Sc), Head of Masters in Communication Studies Study Program (Dr. Dhanurseto Hadiprashada , M.Sc), Head of Journalism Study Program (Yuliati, MIKom), Chair of the 2022 ICDC Committee (Dr. Alfarabi, MA) and the four speakers. The speakers for this seminar came from Malaysia, India, Thailand and Indonesia. Participants who attended were lecturers and several students who were members of the group.
The first material was filled by Dr. Azahar Kasim from the School of Multimedia Technology and Communication University of North Malaysia on narrative journalism and digital information, the second material was filled in by prof. Atish prashar who is the Dean and Principal of School of Media Arts & Aesthetics of South India Bihar Style Center University. The third material was delivered by Sakiroh yoeana Benharoon from Sangkia University, Thailand about community-based tourism communication in the digital era and the last material was delivered by Wahyu Widiastuti, m.sc from Bengkulu University about challenges and prospects in the digital era.
This activity took place from 08.30 until evening, this activity really satisfied the participants with the materials presented. After the international seminar activities there was an MOU agreement and all participants were directed to present research presentations in accordance with their respective sub-themes.
